MORE than 80 vintage tractors set off yesterday to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
It is the fourth year the Vintage Tractor Road Run has started at Constantine Farm, in North Bitchburn, near Crook, County Durham, and organisers said this year's was the biggest and best yet.
Sheila Marley, who runs the event, said: "Last year we raised about £1,500 and we are hoping to make at least that this year.
"Last year, we had about 73 tractors and we thought we would get about the same this year but we have ended up with more than ever and we have four women drivers as well.''
The 83 tractors, from the 1940s to the 1970s, went down High Grange Bank, through Woodland and Windmill to Hamsterley Forest where they stopped for visitors to view.
The group then set off to Wolsingham, down the dale through Billy Row, into Crook and back to North Bitchburn.
