TWO men were last night helping police with their investigation into the death of a father-of-two.
Northumbria Police said that the pair, aged 23 and 27, were arrested in connection with the death of Robin Chard and were being interviewed at separate stations in the area.
Mr Chard, 47, was near his home in the Felling area of Gateshead when he was beaten in a suspected robbery after leaving Heworth Metro Station, on Friday, April 23. His body was found on wasteland the next day.
Two youths, aged 15 and 17, previously arrested in connection with the inquiry, were released on police bail after questioning last week.
Three men, identified on security cameras leaving Heworth Metro Station at about the same time as Mr Chard, have all come forward and been interviewed.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0191-454 7555, extension 64148.
