BUDDING gardeners have been demonstrating their green fingers.
Youngsters from Consett Infants School, in Teasdale Road, Consett, went on a field trip to the town's Focus/Do It All DIY store and garden centre in Front Street. Centre staff gave the reception class pupils a series of demonstrations on plant potting and plant care, before letting the children loose on some of their stock.
Back in the classroom, the youngsters put their knowledge into practice in the school garden. The trip was arranged as part of their science work for the National Curriculum.
Teacher Cheryl Beresford said: "Everyone got a lot out of it."
