Darlington and District League Kingfisher Finance Trophy Final, Newton Aycliffe 2 Greyhound 1, (aet, abandoned after 95 mins): The third meeting of the teams within a fortnight was always going to be a tempestuous affair but their was no sign of things to come as both sides fought out a hard but on the whole fair cup final.

Aycliffe playing some excellent football took the lead after 20 minutes when Aaron Duff headed home a left wing cross.

However Aycliffe failed to press home their advantage and within ten minutes of the second half Greyhound levelled with a cool finish from Kurt Burleigh. Referee Ellis was quick to penalise any foul play as the game was punctuated by a succession of free kicks for minor misdemeanours and with neither side able to achieve a breakthrough the score remained tied after 90 minutes.

Within two minutes of the restart a long ball caught the Greyhound defence out and with Wilkinson clean through on goal the inevitable tackle from behind resulted in a free kick and a sending off for Peter Robson. Wilkinson picked himself up and duly despatched the resulting free kick into the bottom corner to put Aycliffe ahead.

Three minutes later the award of a free kick to Greyhound resulted in a pushing match between the protagonists followed by a number of players joining in.

An unprovoked attack on a number of players led to the most disgraceful scenes ever witnessed at a local football match and with upwards of 40 spectators encroaching onto the field of play the referee had no option but to abandon the match.

Heighington 1 Killinghall Arms 2

Two first half goals from Gary Alford were sufficient to give Killie a welcome two points. Andrew Hobson pulled one back after the interval and Neil Bannister was Heighington's star man.
