Coxhoe moved two points ahead after they beat the visiting Nevilles Cross by four points. The shock of the first week of the new season came in the First Division at Crook Glenholme, who were last season's runners-up, playing against the visiting Chilton, who earned promotion last season as runners-up in the Second Division.
