The weather played havoc with Saturday's programme but more games were played on Monday, writes Malcolm Pratt.

Thimbleby were one of the two clubs able stage a game on Saturday and were rewarded with an 18 run victory over Skelton Castle.

Following an indifferent start, Thimbleby ended with 118 on top mainly as a result of a half century from Ward. D Hogarth had a good day with the ball for Skelton Castle claiming five wickets for just 45 runs while Jones and Stainthorpe both took a couple of wickets.

Replying, the visitors had Stainthorpe in form with the bat and he opened the innings scoring 32 but Thompson dominated and his magnificent analysis of eight for 29 reduced the visitors to 100 all out.

The other game to take place was between Kirkby Sigston and Craythorne. The visitors were restricted to 88 for nine of which Mooney scored 32 and his opener partner Marshall 21. Clarkson captured four for 25 and Neil Kndrew had four for 32 for Kirkby Sigson, who then romped to victory without conceding a wicket.

Harper carried his bat for 54 and Lowther was unbeaten on 32.

In Monday's programme Thimbleby went down by seven wickets against Scruton. Barritt took six for 41 and brass three for 50 as Scruton pegged Thimbleby to 99. Craig finished 48 not out and Barritt 35 not out in the Scruton reply.

After bowling out Stafford Place for just 80 East Harlsey won by eight wickets when Mason ended undefeated on 51. Atkinson top scored with 32 for Stafford Place and in the East Harsley attack, Grainge claimed six for 35 and Willey four for 42.

Ingleby Greenhow managed just 54 in their fixture with Hutton Rudby who, batting first made the respectable total of 178 for five which included an undefeated 79 by Green and 36 from Gilchrist. Dennis was the bowler who caused Ingleby Greenhow their problems as he picked up five wickets at the mere cost of just 15 runs.

Kirby Sigston rattled up 271 for six and Maltby replied with 161 for nine. The runs flowed from the bats of Lowther (73), Harper (68), Thompson (63) and Clarkson (30) when Kirby Sigston made first use of the wicket. The six wickets to fall were shared by Hornsby and Springer. In response, Maltby ended 161 for nine which included 56 by Francis and in the Kirby Sigston attack none did better than Clarkson with three for 36.

Broughton and Kirby had 23 runs to spare in their fixture with Craythorne. Clemmitt captured six for 34 runs restricting Broughton and Kirby to 110 for eight but in reply Craythorne were all out for 87 as Blayden took five wickets for 13 runs.
