DIVISION ONE: Carlin How 2 Hartlepool FC 0: Carlin How entertained League champions Hartlepool FC knowing a win would be enough to secure second spot - providing Mackinlay Park beat Thornaby.

They started the brightest and took the lead in the 30th minute when a cross from Steven Starsmore fell to Martin Say, who hit the ball on the volley past Steven Jewson in the Hartlepool goal.

Ten minutes later Carlin How doubled the lead when a three man move involving Danny Wilkinson, Say and Starsmore resulting in the latter scoring his 20th of the season from ten yards.

Grangetown BC 3 BEADS FC 3

Trevor Coulton's last game as manager of outgoing champions Grangetown Boys Club saw them entertain MacMillan Bowl finalists BEADS. The Boys Club took a second minute lead when Ian McGowan scored his tenth of the season. Ian Swinnerton's sixth of the season in the 25th minute made it 1-1 and this remained the half-time score. Ten minutes into the second half the visitors took the lead when Paul Callen scored, but Andy Doddy made it all square on the hour. Stephen Scott then gave the Boys Club the lead again in the 73rd minute but seven minutes later a 14th of the season from Paul Chamberlain made it 3-3 and a share of the spoils.

New Marske SC 2 Richmond Town 3

Relegated New Marske Sports Club entertained Richmond Town who took a 3-0 half time lead in manager Richmond Dawson's last game in charge. Tom Ptak gave Richmond the lead in the 28th minute and Carl Tate's first of the season made it 2-0 five minutes later. Ptak then added his second of the match. In the second half New Marske, who still have champions Hartlepool to play on Wednesday, pulled it back to 3-1 in the 48th minute through Gary Young. They battled back and were rewarded with a second goal to make it 3-2 in the 84th minute when Lee Wells scored from the penalty spot.

SMG Redstripes 2 Wolviston Res 0

Billingham side SMG Redstripes, who are looking for a new manager and club secretary, staved off the possibility of relegation with three points from their local rivals Wolviston Reserves. Rory Newton gave the home side a tenth minute lead with a 20 yard strike. They added a second in the 30th minute from Alex Degiorgis.

In the second half Wolviston pushed forward but resolute defending from the home side resulted in them securing the points to keep them safe from relegation, but condemning Mackinlay Park to the second division along with New Marske SC.

MacMillan Bowl finalists Thornaby Youth Club warmed up for Wednesday's final by resting a number of players and giving some of their youngsters and fringe players a game against Redcar side Mackinlay Park. The home side were well on top for the first half and created a number of chances and a good save by the visitors keeper kept the match goalless.

BURNESS PLATE SEMI-FINALS

Darlington CB 1 Dormans FC 2

The Alex Burness Plate Final will be between the same two teams that competed in the Raine Trophy Final after two evenly contested semi-finals. Darlington Cleveland Bridge, who still have one more League match to complete their season, entertained second division champions Dormans. But the home side shocked the champions by taking the lead after only ten minutes when Daniel Fleary scored. In the second half Dormans drew level in the 52nd minute through Mark Sowerby and 13 minutes later Richard Bowden secured Dormans a place in their third final of the season against Billingham Wanderers.

Darlington RA Reserves took a second minute lead in this semi-final when Dean Lawson scored his ninth of the season. This remained the only goal of a tight first half. On the hour Lee Mitchell put Billingham Wanderers back on level terms and five minutes later John Cairns secured Billingham a place in their second final against Dormans.

Richmond Mvrks 5 Middleham 2

Richmond Mavericks, who secured the second division runners-up position on Monday evening, and promotion to the first division after a 2-0 win over Darlington CB, were then presented with the runners-up shield, then lost to Hartlepool Chester Hotel, who applied to join the second division, in the semi-final of the Darlington Charity Cup on Wednesday, secured their second trophy after beating Middleham in the final of the Dales Cup, run by their previous league the Wensledyale League. Michael Dale gave the Mavericks the lead from the penalty spot after only seven minutes, Middleham pulled it back to 1-1 which remained the score at until three minutes from halftime when Gary Nicholson gave the Mavericks a 2-1 halftime lead. In the second half the match was very tight but in the 78th minute Andrew Blenkharn, who scored both goals in their mid-week win, gave the Mavericks a seemingly comfortable 3-1 lead, but Middleham pulled back to 3-2 two minutes later in the 80th minute, Blenkharn then struck again with his second of the game in the 82nd minute before Wayne Gredziak secured the win in the last minute.
