A CHARTER has been launched for users of mental health services and carers in part of the North-East.
The charter, written by users and carers, will set high standards for adults with mental health care needs in County Durham and Darlington and their carers.
The users and carers organised the launch with support from the County Durham and Darlington Mental Health Service User and Carer Involvement Team.
It was held to mark the handing over of the charter to health, social care and voluntary organisations that provide mental health services.
Kate Harrington, from the involvement team, said: "This is an innovative piece of work, which will lead the way nationally for standards of care for people who have mental health problems.
"The charter provides people with a guide to support them when they have contact with services during what can be a very difficult time."
