A COMMUNITY office set up in a former bank has confirmed it has assisted with more than 1,000 inquiries from the public on council matters since it opened in January 2003.
Swaledale residents have been able to pay rent and council tax over the counter at Hudson House, in Reeth, and can access information about services provided by Richmondshire District Council.
The office also doubles as a general community information point.
"We're delighted with these figures, which show footfall well above expectations," said the council's head of community offices, Carole Dew.
"Our feedback shows people appreciate having a personal and efficient service on their doorstep."
The partnership approach at Hudson House - which is also home to offices manned by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, the Swaledale Festival and the police - will mean it will be open for longer this summer.
"During the spring and summer months, residents can pay their council tax on Sunday because staff from the national park can deal with the transactions," said office manager Graham Wilkinson.
"During the autumn and winter, when the national park office would normally be shut, council staff will sell their merchandise or answer queries on their behalf."
