IN May last year, The Northern Echo published a report in which it was stated that Anthony Cormack, of Deona Court, Darlington, would not appeal after being found guilty at Teesside Crown Court of stealing £60,000-worth of jewellery.
As reported in The Northern Echo on April 21, 2004, Mr Cormack did, in fact, launch an appeal and the conviction was quashed.
We are happy to again make it clear that Mr Cormack has been cleared of the charge and apologise for the confusion caused by our report in May last year, which was based on information supplied and published in good faith.
