MORE than 400 model and wargames enthusiasts took part in one of the North-East's biggest exhibitions of its kind at the weekend.
Fans of military models recreated miniature battles, including some from after D-Day, which were designed to mark the 60th anniversary of the Allied invasion of Nazi-occupied France.
There were 11 recreated battles at the exhibition in Stockton Sports Centre. They also included scenes from the Lord of the Rings films as well as board games and trade stalls.
The spring show was organised by two disabled men, David Clemmet and Thomas Davidson. They have also held similar events in November since 1981.
Mr Clemmet, a Stockton local government worker, said: "We had more than 400 through the door, some good games and a lot of fun so it was a very successful event."
Mr Davidson, a factory worker, said: "It is fascinating watching history unfold on the table top and how it might have changed if the battle had gone a different way."
All proceeds will be donated to the Freeman Transplant Association.
