Federation Special Durham Senior League: The three sides at the top all lost their 100 per cent records and Horden now take over the leadership.
The current champions were unable to winkle out the final South Hetton pair who held on for two overs together.
Earlier it had been John Leslie (51) and former Horden player John Pendlington (32) who added 83 for the fourth wicket and stifled Horden's hopes despite another six-wickets haul by Keith Cheetham.
The pace bowling of Dave Chamley, Graham Fox and David Wills ensured Marsden registering their first win. Durham City were their victims and they were dismissed in just 27.3 overs.
Chamley was the destroyer-in-chief and when he picked up three wickets in an over, the City batting was in total disarray. Oliver Jones (38 not out) though stood firm and a last-wicket partnership of 29 was needed to reach their modest 68.
Marsden found few problems against the gentle Durham attack. Lee Whalley (47 not out) led the way and with support from Chris Mann, Marsden won handsomely by ten wickets.
In a low-scoring game at Boldon, the home side did just enough to inflict defeat on Hetton Lyons. Gareth Smith's three wickets in seven balls placed the Lyons in early difficulties. The pace bowler ended with 5-26 and his side were left to chase 96.
A patient innings from Neil Burnett (31 not out) aided late on by Smith enabled Boldon to reach their target with three wickets intact.
Rain severely interrupted Felling's game with Whitburn. After being 50 for five wickets, skipper Graeme Wright (62) found support from Darryl Warden (49 not out) and their 63 runs together took Felling to relative safety.
After a quick-fire 39 from Neil Ayre, Whitburn were hindered again by the weather and the sides shared the spoils.
Eppleton and South Shields weable to bowl 18 overs when Shields made a useful start. Although Jim Daley looked a threat, the weather quickly became the winner.
