A LEISURE centre hosted an aerobathon at the weekend to encourage people to get fit for the summer, while at the same time raising money for a local charity. Durham City Council's leisure services department got the Mayor's charity off to a good start with a variety of classes at the Meadowfield Leisure Centre.
The new Mayor of Durham, Councillor Mary Hawgood, was on hand to start proceedings, which included aerobics, pilates, salsa, bums and tums, and spinning to name just a few.
The event was in aid of St Cuthbert's Hospice.
All of the instructors taking part gave their time free, while the No Angels dance troupe performed a display at the start of the day to get everyone in the mood.
To round the event off all of the instructors put on a display of their own.
