MORE than 70 students at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, Darlington, were presented with sporting awards by Mark Proctor, Middlesbrough Football Club's youth team coach.
The Lewis Gordon Trophy for achievement went to Carol Mohan, who has represented Great Britain in water polo.
The Services to Sport plaque went to Tom Smith for his contribution to a range of sports, including volleyball and rugby, and for his support of sport at the college.
The Chris Hope Memorial Trophy for improvement in rugby went to Ed Paton Williams.
In addition, 26 students were acknowledged for sporting achievements, 23 received Community Sports Leaders' Awards and the college swimming team and biathletes were honoured for reaching the national colleges' finals.
Player of the Year Awards were made to: Ian Little, Gareth Hamblin, Mark Richardson, Justin Preston, Ben Blacklock, Katy McLaren, Daniel Hill, Kayleigh Denham, David Easton and Helen Grainge.
