VETERANS of the stage will visit the North-East this month. The Barron Knights will bring their unusual blend of music and comedy to Durham's Gala Theatre, on Sunday.
It will be something of a homecoming for one of the three surviving founder members of the band, Pete Langford, whose family hails from County Durham.
Although the lead guitarist spent only his first few years in the Langley Moor area, several relatives still living locally are expected to be there on the night.
The Barron Knights, an early support act for The Beatles, had six top ten hits and are well known for musical comedy impressions and parodies of famous performers.
Guitarist Butch Baker, said the Durham audience should expect a 50/50 mix of straight music and mimicry, in keeping with the best tradition of the band's 40-years on the road.
Tickets for the Gala show, which starts at 7.30pm, cost £12 and are available through the box office, on 0191-332 4041.
