AN 11-YEAR-OLD boy has died after being knocked down on a pedestrian crossing in Hartlepool.
Ashley Orley, from the Throston Grange area of town, was killed after being struck by a Jaguar on the A179 Hart Lane, approximately 300m north of Tarnston Lane, at 5.40pm on Monday.
At the moment it is believed a number of children, of similar age, were on one side of the carriageway in the process of crossing. The exact manner in which they were crossing the road is not known.
Ashley sustained serious head and chest injuries as a result of the accident and was pronounced dead at the University Hospital of Hartlepool.
