A NEW school reference library has impressed pupils with its cosy surroundings and wide range of books.
The library has been moved and expanded from the entrance of Mill Hill Primary School in Northallerton, to a mobile classroom in the grounds. It has been created following donations from the Kettlewell Trust and BT, and contains about 500 books. It is part of the school's drive to improve standards in science.
Class teacher and school literacy co-ordinator Clare Dyer said the old non-fiction library in the entrance was very small not the best place for the children to get to the books. "The mobile classroom was cold and dingy and had old furniture in there.
"Everything that we did not want in the school was put in there.
"Now it is bright and warm and cosy. It is somewhere that the children really want to go and they have just been coming out of there and saying wow," said Clare.
