MOTORISTS are being urged to take up a cut-price deal offering added security against thieves this week.
Residents of Darlington will be able to buy steering wheel locks for £40, instead of the usual price of £80, at Morrison at Morton Park today and tomorrow.
The Diskloks initiative is part of Darlington police's efforts to cut car crime.
A similar sale earlier this year proved a huge success.
Officers will be at the store from 10am until 1pm each day, with the Diskloks being sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
PC Steve Rich said police would also be selling a door intercom system, which could be invaluable to elderly or vulnerable people.
The device - a viewer with an intercom - allows people to talk to callers without having to open their door. The system costs £9.
PC Rich said: "It should give people confidence and peace of mind that they don't have to deal with people face-to-face if they don't want to."
