BEAVERS, cubs, scouts and adventure scouts recreated a miniature version of the Le Mans 24-hour race.
The 9th Darlington Scout Group set up around 100ft of Scalextric track at Harrowgate Hill Methodist Church and raced cars for 24 hours to raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance. Taking turns to man the cars in one-hour shifts, 40 boys, aged six to 14, kept the race going from 5pm on Friday until 5pm on Saturday.
Chairman of the executive committee Kay Lambert said: "Hopefully we might have raised £800, which will be fantastic and we think the boys did something like 40,000 laps in the 24 hours."
