CHILDREN'S healthy sandwich recipes are so good they have gone on sale to the public.
Iain Drinkald, nine, and Rachel Lindstedt, ten, both of Millfield, Sunderland, won joint first place in a competition to design a healthy and tasty sandwich filling.
The competition, run by Sunderland Teaching Primary Care Trust (TPCT), was aimed at helping children learn about nutrition.
Iain's sandwich of chicken breast, apple and pineapple in a crme fraiche dressing, and Rachel's chicken tikka flavoured sandwich are on sale for a two-week trial period at the Raich Carter Leisure Centre, in Hendon, Sunderland.
Iain and Rachel each received a month's free family entry pass for the centre.
Supermarket chain Asda donated the ingredients for their sandwiches.
