PUPILS are using traditional craftwork methods to prepare a rug which will be exhibited at an arts festival.
A room at Barnard Castle Preparatory School has been devoted to the preparation of the proddy rug, which will be displayed at Barnard Castle Arts Festival.
The theme of the festival is All Things Bright and Beautiful and the pupils have used their own illustrations on the theme to decorate the rug.
They are being taught the proddy rug technique by Christine Haslam, wife of headteacher, Ted.
Mr Haslam said: "They've really enjoyed doing it. It's going to be a lovely rug and be a bit unusual for the pupils."
The festival will be held in Barnard Castle Methodist Church from Saturday, May 29, to Monday, May 31.
