Spraire Lads Under-8s travelled to Brinkburn to play two league games head-to-head due to an earlier postponement came away with all six points.

In the first game Brinkburn took the lead early in the first half but a goal from man of the match Jonathan Dye levelled the score. In the second half Dye scored a second before Jordan Pearson made it 3-1 to clinch the first three points of the day. Lewis Feldon had a brilliant game in goal for Spraire. The Brinkburn lads also gave their all in a very entertaining game.

In the second game Spraire took the lead with a Liam McKue goal but Brinkburn levelled the score before half time. In the second half, Spraire came out with the determination to ensure that all the points were coming back to Darlington and this was achieved courtesy of Craig Edwards' brilliant strike. Man of the match went to Ben Joyeux.

The Under-10s travelled to York to play in the Wiggington tournament on Saturday and in their first game they played Bedale and came away with a good 2-1 win with goals from Matty Plumb and Kerry Hedley. In their second game they faced a strong Cramlington side and came away with a hard fought 0-0.

Next they faced home side Wiggington and drew 1-1 with Zac Tervit scoring. They got back on the winning trail in the next match against real Cliffe, winning 2-0 with goals from Danny Stead and Tervit an in their final match against Low Fell they needed to draw to qualify but went behind in the first minute. Spraire battled back in the second half and deservedly equalised through Tervit but a corner in the last minute was converted to see Spraire lose 2-1.

Spraire Lads Under-15 B's aspirations of winning the TJFA Division Four championship were shattered in their final league match. Spraire needed to take a point at second-placed Dormans Athletic but fate dealt them a cruel hand and they conceded a goal deep into stoppage time to hand the championship to their hosts. Spraire came out of the starting blocks under a great head of steam and almost took the lead in their first attack as Tubs Chandler rounded the keeper only for his goal-bound effort to be cleared off the line by a defender for a corner. The corner was delayed and this allowed Dormans to catch their breath and for Spraire's opening burst of energy to subside.

Dormans' strong midfield then took control for long periods and they deservedly took the lead after 15 minutes when Baldasera was unfortunate to turn the ball into his own net. The rest of the half was played out at a frantic pace. After the interval, the pace dropped and Spraire were able to impose their authority on the game. Ten minutes into the second half the Spraire management were contemplating changes to add to their attacking options when Elliot Gardner scored with a great left-foot strike; plans were hurriedly rearranged to bolster the midfield. Everything seemed to be going to plan as Spraire protected their goal with vigour.

However, nobody anticipated the eight minutes of stoppage time. Eventually a shot from inside the area was parried by keeper Petch, but the ball slithered painfully over the line to make it 2-1 to Dormans Athletic.

Whilst understandably, the Spraire players are gutted by the outcome, they should remain proud of themselves and celebrate their achievement of obtaining the runners-up spot and promotion. Tom Hind was the Spraire man of the match although Elliot Gardner's excellent performance is also worthy of a special mention.
