Leadgate Golden Lion's bid to go throughout the season unbeaten appeared to be in great danger in their final outing when they trailed a young Blackhill Comrades 5-3.
But the Lion roared back to make it 18 without defeat when they drew 5-5 despite a hat-trick for the home team from Lee Innes.
It means that of their 18 league fixtures the Lion have won 16 and drawn two others. Craig Morgan and Philip Butterfield also netted for the Comrades with two-goal Chris Soulsby, Dean Lishman, Daniel Craggs and Mark Turner securing the Lion's proud record.
Doubles from Graham Clarke and Lee Brown steered Blackhall Mill to an odd goal in seven win at home to Stateside who now finish third despite a couple from Ben Manning and another from Darren Watson.
The runners-up spot has gone to Lanchester Social who went to Lintz Cricket Club and hit the home team for six.
Davie Dorn hit a hat-trick for Lintz who lost out 6-3. Phil Raisbeck also struck a treble for the Social Club along with two from Graham Hall and the ever-reliable Lee McVittie.
In Division Two, champions Burton House were beaten 2-0 at home by runners-up Blackhill Cricketers. Burton House still won the title by four clear points but lost out to goals from Robin Eastham and Duncan McCullough.
Shaftoes won 6-2 at the Black Horse and leapfrogged them to finish third courtesy of those goals. Lee Rainbow grabbed a hat-trick to see both sides end on 43 goals with Shaftoes having a better goal difference of five.
Annfield Plain Demi are relegated after losing 7-2 against Consett Top Club. The Plainsman won 3-2 at the Highwayman and Oxhill were 6-3 winners at the Steel Club.
Champions Burgoynnes finished their third division programme in style as David Nicholson blasted four goals and Lee Finlay the other in a 5-4 home win over Hat & Feather to finish six points clear of runners-up Bally Alley.
Dean Gibson and Dean Elder scored twice each in a 7-0 Duke of Wellington win at the Smelters while Scotch Arms were 3-1 winners at Cronniwell and David Sewell and Mark Emery goals took Horse & Groom to an odd goal in three win at Freemasons.
Delves United made sure of third place with Joe Clark scoring twice in a 5-2 win at Medomsley Miners Arms.
