Boosbeck Utd v Lingdale Tavern: Boosbeck worked hard to get this fixture played on a waterlogged pitch and were rewarded with a good opening ten minutes of play.
Johnson ran onto a through-ball from Shimwell and rounded an exposed Moore in the Tavern goal to give Boosbeck the lead. Tavern battled back, Shane Breckon came close but Boosbeck keeper, Myers made a couple of good stops. On the stroke of half time Tokarski ran at the Lingdale defence and played Shimwell through to beat Moore at his near post and gave Boosbeck a two-goal cushion. Lingdale needed to get a grip on the second half and could not have made a better start when with only 14 seconds Liam Ball picked out Shane Breckon whose shot went in off the post. Boosbeck were on the back foot for the next ten minutes and when Thompson played Breckon through for his second Lingdale were right back in the game.
Sleeman and Darcy battled hard for Lingdale and were almost rewarded when Darcy played in Breckon again only for Myers to make another good save.
A mazy run into the box by Tokarski led to a shot hitting the post and going into Moore's safe hands. Dane Breckon should have clinched the points for Lingdale but his shot was cleared off the line by man of the match, Parry in the Boosbeck defence. This good sporting local derby finishing with honours even.
Brotton v Lingdale Utd
Being forced to begin the game with only nine men led to Brotton's defeat. Lingdale took advantage and went ahead after only eight minutes, a great pass from Evans found the feet of Hololob who shrugged off a defender before shooting into the bottom corner. A late arrival increased Brotton's numbers to ten men but Lingdale continued the attack, Allan cleverly found Hololob after a Mark Iseton pass and he made it 2-0.
On 25 minutes Hololob was the provider when after beating off two challenges he found the head of Iseton, who scored from six yards. The second half saw a full-strength Brotton team take the game to Lingdale and it was no surprise when Sivill pulled a goal back with a powerful header. Brotton had numerous chances, a Sivills free kick hit the bar and a brave display by Boosbeck keeper Gibson kept out other attempts.
Lingdale went further ahead, Evans tapping the ball home from close range after a mix up in the Brotton defence. Final score 1-4.
Highland Laddie v Grosmont
Laddie dominated from the start and despite good work from Duane Jeffrey were soon ahead after Neesam made a solo run through the Grosmont defence. Dickinson then made it 2-0 and although Grosmont defended well it wasn't long before Lawther added his name to the scoresheet.
Laddie continued to press in the second half, Rye quickly found the net with a left foot shot and a solo run gave Lawther his second.
The rout continued with goals from Dowson, Daynes and Combellack. A Daynes cross allowed Rye to fire in a bullet header and Dowson added his second and Laddie's tenth.
With seconds remaining Lawther completed his hat-trick and Laddie gained the runners up trophy.
Stakesby v Gt Ayton
Gt Ayton came out comfortable winners as the Arms again had only themselves to blame after a horrendous start to both halves cost them dear.
Ayton took the lead after five minutes when a hopeful ball evaded the Arms back line to be converted by Busby. Arms, to their credit, fought straight back, Webster converting Headlam's cross. The game was being played at a fast pace with both teams looking to hit the other on the counter-attack.
It was Ayton who put this to good effect as they added two more goals as the Arms were caught napping.
Ayton's fourth came just before the break when a corner was headed in as, on so many occasions this season, the Arms failed to deal with it. The second half began with the Arms trying to salvage something but it wasn't to be as an own goal by Steele saw Ayton further ahead and the Arms in complete disarray. Ayton scored twice more before Smith added a consolation goal. As time ticked away however, Ayton added two more as Arms hit the self-destruct button in the closing stages.
SATURDAY'S RESULTS: Boosbeck Utd 2 Lingdale Tavern 2; Brorron WMC 1 Lingdale Utd 3; Grangetown YVV 4 Goldsborough 4; Highland Laddie 11 Grosmont 0; Stakesby Arms 2 Gt Ayton 9; Whitby Fishermen 4 Annandale Hotel 1.
