TWENTY more jobs are in the offing at Somerfield's store, Saltburn, this summer.
This would follow "a complete makeover" and take the number of full-time and part-time staff from 80 to 100.
"The store will mostly stay open during the refurbishment, but may need to close for a few hours on one or two Sundays," said a head office spokeswoman at Bristol.
She said the store would have a larger fresh food area and a rotisserie.
The spokeswoman rejected a suggestion from Consteel Technical Services that part of the store's car park could be turned into a five-a-side football area to occupy youths who play football near the firm's offices in the station precinct opposite Somerfield's.
The car park was not an option for football, she said. "We suggest the council is approached about providing a recreation area away from the town centre."
Police have been paying more attention to vandalism problems in the precinct and new CCTV cameras have been installed.
