Durham Coast League, Under-18s: Only two games went ahead when the programme was affected by the weather.

Ryhope celebrated with a narrow victory at Hylton following a high scoring match. Paul Howe carried his bat for 73 and Brian Conlin captured two wickets for five runs in four overs as Ryhope posted 111 for six in 20 overs.

Responding Hylton went close and were 104 for the loss of four wickets when their overs expired. Brian Conlin top scored with 42 and both Andrew Kibble and Liam Barnett scored 20. Top performer in the Ryhope attack was captain Philip Hutchinson who captured two for six in four overs with his spinners.

Seaham Park managed only 38 all out against Houghton for whom Carl White claimed three for four, Tim Bowman two for five and Raul Karan two for one. Cain contributed 19 half the Seaham Park total.

Batting first Houghton ended with 78 for seven on the board which included an unbeaten 40 by Tim Bowman. Darren Sutherland collected three wickets for 11 runs and Robinson three for 18 in the Seaham attack.

Under-15s

Whitburn won the local derby with South Shields by nine wickets even though they were required to scored 107 runs for victory.

Michael Turns ended unbeaten on 49 and Paul Marshall contributed 31 not out to the Whitburn total of the loss of just one wicket.

When they batted first South Shields ended on 106 for two with Chris Dorothy in five form making 60.

South Hetton had just 13 runs in hand of Marsden. Batting first, the visitors realised 99 for three with Quarmby contributing 39 and Ashcroft 30.

When Marsden went into bat they just failed finishing with 86 for nine on top. Smith took three of the wickets for nine runs and Ashcroft had three for 13.

Little play was possible at Felling where Horden were 39 for one before rain caused the abandonment.

Teesside Valve and Fitting Shield

Esh Winning had more than 100 runs to spare defeating Mainsforth in the Teesside Valve and Fitting Under-15 Shield, writes Malcolm Pratt.

Jonathan Rochford hit one six and five boundaries carrying his bat for 54 and Michael Bussey had no fewer than five sixes and one boundary out of 50 not out. Earlier, David Thornton set the scene contributing 38 with one six and two fours as Esh ended with 158 for one on the board.

Mainsforth managed just 43 for seven as Michael Oughton took three of the wickets for just four runs in three overs.

Crook Town went out to Langley Park. Andrew Robinson found the boundary line on four occasions scoring 36 of the Crook total of 82 for six as Andrew Dinsdale claimed two wickets for just one run in two overs.

Responding, Langley Park won by four wickets with Dinsdale hitting a six and one boundary out of 25. Nick Dalton took three for 21 in five overs and Ben Foster had three for 27 from the 3.3 overs which he sent down in the Crook attack.
