A BLOOD-curdling futuristic rock musical will be premiered in Bishop Auckland this weekend.
Barrington Youth Productions, based at Bishop Barrington School, is staging The Late Sleepers, written and composed by Paul James and Eric Angus, on Saturday and Sunday, from 7pm.
The show was commissioned and first produced by the National Youth Music Theatre at Newcastle's Theatre Royal in August 2002.
Hugh Conway, the school's head of expressive arts, acted as lighting director for the premiere and was determined that Bishop Barrington would be the first school in the country to stage it.
Drama teacher Simon Bridge leads a cast of 70 including students Tammie Potter, Liam MacLeod, Chris Gardiner, Kate Hadden and Kyle Etherington.
The Late Sleepers is the last show at the school for Mr Conway who leaves in the summer after ten years to start a new job as assistant headteacher at Stanley School of Technology in September.
Tickets are £4 from Mrs Hammerton at the school on (01388) 603307.
