West Auckland Queens Head are champions for the second consecutive year after a 0-0 draw at Bishop Rugby Club in the final game of the season.
The title was in doubt till the last kick of the game, as a goal for the home side would have given them the trophy. Rugby Club had their chances but Queens Head held on to win the league on goal difference and leave Rugby Club runners up once again.
Anthony White, John Stanton and Ross Sanderson gave Wearhead United a 3-0 lead at home to Evenwood White Swan. The visitors came back strongly through John Sumpton, Chris Howe and Gary Dowson to earn a share of the spoils.
Roddymoor beat Byers Green St Peters 4-1 with goals from David Welsh, Wilson, Brown, Alex Harker and Stephen Winter. Binks scored the Byers Green consolation.
Coundon and Leeholme Juniors gained reward for an excellent first season when they beat Byers Green St Peters 1-0 to win the Weardale Cup. Anthony Tait scored the only goal of a very good game after just five minutes. Coundon's Sacriston Aged Miners Cup final with Aycliffe will take place on Monday 31 May at Sacriston.
A penalty shootout proved the downfall for West Auckland Queens Head who lost out to Tindale Crescent in the semi final of the Auckland Charity Cup. The sides had been level after extra time.
* The venue for the league presentation night on June 19 has been changed to Willington WMC.
