After making a useful 162 for three from their 35 overs Raby Castle bowled out Catterick Village for just 105, writes Malcolm Pratt.
Ian Dent batted through the Raby Castle innings recording five boundaries in an unbeaten 64 and his opening partner Mark Poole gave support with 33 striking one six and four boundaries.
In reply Catterick Village were dismissed in 30 overs leaving Raby Castle winners by 57 runs. Gayley top scored with 25 finding the boundary line on four occasions, while for Raby Castle Nick Jones bowled a good end claiming five wickets for 31 runs in 12 overs three of which were maidens.
Poole followed up his good performance with the bat by taking two for 35 in 11 overs and Dent had two wickets for 14 runs from the four overs he delivered.
Middleton St George romped to 207 for three in 32 overs at Cliffe where they won by a margin of 132 runs.
Ashton was in superb form for Middleton hitting no fewer than eight sixes and as many fours in an unbeaten innings of 161 of 108. He shared an unbroken partnership for the fourth wicket with Ayub whose 58 not out contained three sixes and five boundaries. They took the score from 46 to 207.
Replying Cliffe were dismissed for 65 in 23 overs as Dave McKenna produced a splendid analysis of six for 22 in 12 overs. Jimmy Bink gave support claiming two wickets for 29 runs from the seven overs he delivered.
There was close finish at Barningham where Barton won by just 16 runs.
Replying for the Barton total of 151 all out, Barningham ended on 135 for nine. Top scorer was Walker with 46 while Lowes added a valuable 25 and Kearton 20.
Frank Land was in excellent form with the ball for Barton capturing six wickets for 44 runs in 20 overs including seven maidens. He bowled unchanged throughout the Barningham innings.
When Barton made first use of the wicket they lost a couple of early batsmen before McAfee (44) and Miller (40) formed a productive partnership for the third wicket.
Paul Kearton claimed five wickets for 28 runs in nine overs and French had three for 62 in the Barningham attack.
Rockliffe Park managed only 106 all out but still won by 46 runs at Heighington who were sent back with 60 runs on the board.
Garbutt took four wickets for 26 runs and Pybus three for five while when Rockliffe Park batted first they found Heighington's Allen in good form with the ball. He collected six wickets at a cost of just 68 runs as Rockliffe Park struggled to make three figures. The visitors were indebted to Rix who batting at number ten contributed a valuable unbeaten 34.
Witton-le-Wear suffered a nine wicket defeat at Cockerton where they were dismissed for 76. Lethbridge had four for 32 and Rawlings claimed three wickets for one run. In response Cockerton conceded one wicket when Dale was run out. Thereafter Tomlin carried his bat for 43 and Barrow made 21 not out in a nine wickets victory.
Haughton managed 91 for nine in 35 overs and lost by eight wickets to Ingleton. Warren Spark opened the Haughton innings scoring 33 but generally the batsmen were well contained by Kenny Gammack whose five wickets were taken for just 17 runs in seven overs.
Despite losing the early wicket of Dylan Wood, Ingleton secured an eight wickets win as Stuart Dawson struck an unbeaten 52 which included four sixes and one boundary. Chris Easby added 23 opening the innings.
In Division B Brompton-on-Swale won a low scoring game by 27 runs when they hosted Dales. Batting first Brompton managed 94 in 35 overs as Thomas Collingwood picked up four wickets for 31 runs in 13 overs and Hutchinson had five for 43.
When they went into bat Dales found run making even more difficult and were restricted to 67 for nine from 35 overs. Nigel Winters top scored with 21 and in the Brompton attack none did better than Nick Nicholson whose five wickets cost him 31 runs in 18 overs including five maidens. He received good support from Barry Leyburn with four for 33 in 17 overs.
Spennithorne and Harmby defeated Middleton-in-Teesdale by three wickets following a low scoring contest. Middleton were dismissed in 21 overs for 55 as Simon Walker took four wickets for six runs in seven overs and Connell Fowler had three for 14 from the four overs he delivered.
When they responded the home side also struggled at the wicket before securing victory with 56 for seven on top after no fewer than 32 overs. Their match winner with the bat was Mark Tunstall with an unbeaten 25 which contained four boundaries.
Coatsworth sent down 16 overs half of which were maidens in taking three for 20 and Fletcher had identical figures from the 11 overs he bowled.
The games at Trimdon and Deaf Hill, Middleton Tyas, Rockliffe Park and East Cowton were all washed out without a ball being bowled.
In Division C Aldbrough had four wickets to spare defeating Trimdon CCA who were restricted to 107 for nine while Barton won by seven wickets after bowling out Barningham for only 57.
King James made 107 for five before losing to Raby Castle whose nine pair was at the wicket and Lands had just one run in hand of Cliffe who replied with 73 for six after Lands had managed 74.
There was no play at Spennymoor or Trimdon Colliery and Deaf Hill because grounds were unfit.
