NORTH-EAST coastguards have taken part in a Tornado jet pull to help launch a drive to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Coastguards from Skinningrove and Staithes, in east Cleveland, Whitby, North Yorkshire and Bridlington, East Yorkshire, along with parachute regiment teams, pulled a Tornado F3 over 150 metres at the event, organised by RAF Leeming.
It was held to help publicise a Tornado-pulling competition on Saturday, July 31, when 15 teams, including the RAF, Royal Marines, Metropolitan Police and the Fire Service will take part to raise £20,000 for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
The event will also include an appearance by the Red Arrows, a Battle of Britain memorial flight and a display by the 100 Squadron Hawk and Tornado F3.
A Skinningrove Coastguard spokesperson said: "It was hard work, especially as it was uphill. It was a fully fuelled 23-tonne Tornado, but it was for a good cause."
