WORKERS in Libya have raised £1,000 for a North-East hospice.
The employees of Spanish and Libyian company Repsol, in Ubari, in the Sahara Desert, Libya, helped raise the money by sponsoring 56-year-old Patrick Parks, from Redcar, east Cleveland, who took part in the Redcar Half Marathon.
The money, collected by the British, Iraqi, Filipino and Bosnian workers, will go to Zoe's Place, in Normanby, Middlesbrough, which cares for babies and children up to five years old.
Mr Parks, a senior electrical technician, who completed the half marathon in 1hr 52mins, said: "We chose to raise cash for Zoe's Place because it's a children's hospice and it's just starting up."
