COLLEGE staff this week showed a Euro MP how EU funding is helping to train the next generation of skilled workers.
Stephen Hughes, MEP, visited the new £6.5m campus of Derwentside College, in Consett that won EU funding for its industrial training unit.
As part of his tour of the Consett area, he called in at the Villa Real industrial estate, which was also part EU funded, and the Derwentside eBusiness Centre. He also walked around Consett market and met residents in Leadgate.
Yesterday, Mr Hughes visited the Sure Start scheme at Craghead Nursery, Craghead, which was part-funded by the EU. He also called in at the £1m Sure Start centre, in Clifford Road, Stanley.
