Increases in car parking charges are intoduced today in east Cleveland.
They come into force across Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's car parks.
In long-stay car parks, including Saltburn car parks and the Majuba Road car park in Redcar, there is no change in the 60p rate, but there will be a 10p increase to £1.10 for two hours and a 10p rise to £2.10 for all day parking.
The ultra-short stay parking areas in Redcar rise from 10p to 20p for 30 minutes.
In the short stay parking areas in Redcar and Guisborough, the 60p rate for an hour is unchanged in Redcar, but rises by 10p in Guisborough, while the two-hour rate rises 10p to £1.10. There is no change in the £1 rate for each additional hour.
The council's cabinet member for strategic planning, development and infrastructure, Councillor Eric Empson, said the extra revenue would be used to improve car parking facilities.
"We have already achieved secured car park status at Kirkleatham Street and we're aiming to have the same accolade bestowed on another two car parks in Fountain Street, Guisborough, within the coming financial year," he said.
"We have been alerting motorists to the changes with notices in all our car parks over the past three weeks.
"We believe the charges still compare favourably with car parking charges across the Tees Valley."
