Two water coolers have been installed at Cleves Cross Primary School, in Ferryhill, after teachers contacted Aquaid, a company which works with Christian Aid.
The system was installed by the charity Pump Aid, and Aquaid has supplied each child and staff member with a bottles that are filled daily.
For every four cooling systems the company sells, Water Aid will install a water pump in an African school.
Cleves Cross will be able to establish a link with the school in Africa which they have helped by buying the water coolers.
