A COUNTY Durham company is expecting to double its turnover after developing a process that creates a halo- effect around signs.
Imex Grafix Limited, at Aycliffe Industrial Park, Newton Aycliffe, was set up eight years ago with support from Business Link County Durham.
Neon signs are expensive to maintain and operate and difficult to repair safely in busy areas.
The latest signs, lit by light emitting diodes (LEDs), can last up to 30 years and are more reliable with low running costs.
Imex Grafix, whose customers include Bannatynes Health Clubs, Barker and Stonehouse and Arriva NE, said the new process had been in development for about a year.
The company has just produced the first sign for Springs Sanctuary Spa, on Teesside.
The company also recently completed its largest free-standing sign, a six metre by 4.5 metre construction for Portakabin Limited, now in use at their North Wales Hire Centre in Queensferry. MF Engineering, also on the industrial estate, built the sign.
John Bowler, managing director of Imex Grafix, said: "Our customers are mainly small to medium-sized companies and we provide a complete package from design through to installation. That can mean everything from the managing director's sign on the door to huge exterior installations.
"Business Link County Durham has supported us since the start and, with these new LED signs, we are expecting business to grow considerably."
