ENGINEERING group Aker Kvaerner last night announced a solid start to the year.
The multi-national, which employs 700 people at its AK Engineering Services headquarters in Stockton, said a steady supply of orders had brought in £600m - although few major contracts were won. Pre-tax first-quarter earnings were £26.7m.
All main business units in oil and gas, process and pulping and power sectors developed as planned in the first three months of the year.
The results showed the company had a strong cash position and that it hoped to increase profits to £144.5m by 2006.
Aker Kvaerner provides engineering and construction services and technology products.
