LIBERAL Democrats deputy leader Sir Menzies Campbell is in the North-East tomorrow.
Sir Menzies, the Lib Dems' shadow foreign affairs secretary, will be in Newcastle to discuss the situation in Iraq and meet local activists from charities Christian Aid and Amnesty International.
Amnesty International recently claimed that some Iraqi civilians had been killed unlawfully by UK soldiers and has highlighted the treatment of prisoners of war.
Fiona Hall, lead candidate in the European elections for the Lib Dems, will accompany Sir Menzies. She said the local and European elections next month would give the public a chance to vote on Prime Minister Tony Blair's handling of Iraq.
"Most people in the North-East have decided that going to war was a mistake and they don't believe that Tony Blair was honest about his reasons for doing so," she said.
