In a very tense and tight match on Tuesday, Woodham Men's Scratch Team, sponsored by Turners of Sedgefield Ltd, pulled off a narrow victory over visitors Wearside GC in their North Durham Golf Union League Game.
There were resounding wins for Lee McCavanagh 7&5 and James Ivil 5&4. Mark Hodgson holed a putt for a birdie on the 18th to win his match 1 up. Daniel Simpson sewed up the victory with a 3&1 win. A relieved Club Captain Steve Haslam praised the team for their dogged display.
Direction and Perception for Lesley Mullen on Sunday 16th May with a nett 69 she won the Directors Cup and qualified for the Regional Final of the Health Perception Competition at Bedale in July. Liz Nelson had the same nett score but lost out on a back 9 countback. Tracey Hahn with a nett 73 made 3rd place by virtue of a better back 9.
There was a confidence boosting win for Daniel Young with 41pts in the Junior Section Roy Leonard Shield on Sunday. Daniel just pipped Tom Maddison who scored 40 pts, with Michael Fearman 3rd courtesy of a better back 9, on 39 pts.
The Seniors Section played for the Dave Goad Cup Tuesday, May 11. Brian Crampton won with 42pts, George Curry was runner up with 38pts.
