Evenwood and Houghton were involved in a high scoring tie which Evenwood won by 58 runs, writes Malcolm Pratt.
When they batted first, the home side ended 153 for one on the board as James Alderson carried his bat for 63 with nine boundaries and Kirt Bailey took one six and seven fours in an undefeated 62.
Replying Houghton made 95 for three which included 52 not out by Bainbridge with one six and five boundaries. Alderson was also in form with the ball for Evenwood taking two of the three wickets to go down for eight runs in four overs.
Langley Park batsmen were also in scoring form in their tie with Etherley. Daniel Wilkinson contributed 49 and Gregg Coates 41 to a total of 143 for three and responding Etherley were all out for 79 as Jamie Winn returned the excellent figures of five for 19 in five overs.
Runs were less plentiful when Ushaw Moor played Brandon. Stephen Wallace took four for eight in five overs, Gary Brown conceded just one run picking up two wickets and Stephen Brook had two for nine as Ushaw Moor were all out for 43. Brandon then lost four wickets, two each to Craig Ushaw and Wilson before reaching the next round.
