A ten-month row over a speeding ticket ended yesterday when the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the case due to lack of evidence.
Deborah Hodgson, 39, of Brandling Place South, Jesmond, Newcastle, was told she was free to leave by Darlington magistrates, after she denied driving the vehicle seen speeding on the A66, in County Durham, last July.
The court heard the car was registered to the company where her husband was a director, but she was not driving the car that day and did not know who had.
David Bryson, prosecuting, was denied an adjournment, so he offered no evidence.
