Grant Parkin took four wickets in four balls leading South Shields to victory over Whitburn in the Under-13 Cup, writes Malcolm Pratt.
The youngster went on to finish with figures of six wickets for seven runs in four overs and Andrew Elliott in two for 12 from the four overs he delivered and Whitburn were all out for 55.
Batting first South Shields realised 74 for eight with Connor Elliott top scoring with 25 while for Whitburn Potts and Wright had identical scoring analysis of two for six.
In the Under-15 Cup, South Shields were also successful defeating Sunderland by 45 runs. Watson carried his bat for 47 in a total of 126 for two before Sunderland were restricted to 82 for nine.
In the George Peacock Memorial Cup, competed for at under-18 level, South Hetton romped to victory over local rivals Eppleton. Gary Ashcroft was another player who claimed a hat trick with four for seven when Eppleton were dismissed with 34. Paul Davison (22no) and Kyle Bradbury then swept South Hetton to a ten wicket success.
