Four members of the Quakers Running Club competed in the Blyth Valley 10 Mile Road Race on Sunday, April 25.
Ian Scott set a new club over 50 record of 56:52 to take 10th prize, followed by Alasdair Tatham who obviously was still recovering from the previous week's London Marathon to finish 89th in 1:07:24, followed by John Ross, 151st, 1:12:24 and Terry Deary, 255th, 1:24:57. There were 305 finishers.
Julia Orr was competing at the North Eastern track championships at Gateshead recently. Recovering from injury, Julia finished 6th in the under 20's 1500 metre race in an excellent time of 4:59.
The second of the White Horse Handicaps will be held on Tuesday, 25 May at the White Horse Hotel, Harrowgate Hill, Darlington. Runners are encouraged to register by 6.45 pm for the 7.15pm start. For further details see the club's website at www.quakersrunningclub.co.uk
The Quakers Running Club will co-host Hamsterley Forest 10K and fun run on Sunday, June 6 with Butterwick Hospice. The fun run starts at 10.30am, followed by the main event at 11am. Entry forms available from the club or Butterwick Hospice, alternatively enter on the day for a small additional charge.
The Quakers Annual Presentation night will be held on Saturday, July 17. Tickets are now on sale. All members, past and present, families and friends are more than welcome to attend. Contact Dawn Richardson on 07950 529312 for tickets.

At the North Eastern Track and Field Championships at Gateshead on Saturday and Sunday Shildon produced two champions.
In the Under-13 girls 1500m race a magnificent run from Kate Avery gave her first place with a new championship record of 5:02.1secs. demolishing the old record by almost 15 secondss. Khalil Thompson produced two personal best performances to take the gold medals in the Under-15 boys 800m 2:07secs and 1500m 4:21.01secs.
