A SCHOOL rock band has proved its mettle by reaching the final of a talent competition.
Tanfield School's band 100% Moron brought the house down when they appeared at Stanley's Lamplight Centre to secure a place in the final of Talentstar 2004 at Newcastle Opera House on June 27.
The band, which won their school heat, played classic rock covers.
They faced strong competition from performers from Consett, Spennymoor, Bishop Auckland and Wallsend.
The band members have been together since their early days at Tanfield, encouraged by head of music John Stephenson.
Matthew Connor is on drums, Mark Robson plays bass, Michael Kilgallon is on guitar and vocals, Ben Thompson is on guitar and David Bulman sings lead vocals.
