Northallerton and District League
The Northallerton and District Domino League held its annual presentation evening at the Workingmens Club, Northallerton on Thursday, May 13. Mr Eddie Morris, who was compere for the night, opened the evening by welcoming everyone, and congratulating the winning teams. He thanked the secretary for all his hard work during the season.
Trophy winners were as follows: Division One: Domino Winner - Duke of Wellington, Runners-Up - The Green Tree. Fives and Threes Winners - Duke Of Wellington; Runners-up - The Wheatsheaf. These trophies were presented by Mr Derek Beckwith, Life Vice President.
Division Two: Domino Winners - Willow Tree, Leeming; Runners-up Elders B. Fives & Threes: Winners - Haynes Arms; Runners-up Tickle Toby B. These trophies were presented by Mr Graham Clark, League Sponsor.
Mr Eric (Titch) Watson presented the Titch Watson Domno Knockout trophies to the winners, Cricket Club A, Northallerton, Runners-up Golden Lion, Romanby. Trophies to the winners who were the Willow Tree, Leeming, Runners-up were the Gold Cup, Slton
Individual domino pairs winners were H. Evans and T. Marsay, Grey Horse B. Individual Fives and Three Pairs winners were P. Cheetham and S. Cheetham, Tickle Toby A, Northallerton. Charlie Trueman Tophy Winners were G. Pearson and K. Pearson, Grey Horse A.
The combined division cup winners were as follows: Division One: Duke Of Wellington, Wellbury
Division Two: The Tickle Toby A, Northallerton
Division Three: The Oddfellows Arms, Northallerton
The final trophy of the evening, the Geoff Wetherill Memorial Trophy for champion of champions went to the Oddfellows Arms,. Northallerton.
Finally our compere for the evening Mr Eddie Morris thanked everyone for attending, thanked the committee and bar staff, the sponsors, the Workingmens Club and hoped everyone would enjoy the remainder of the evening.
Crook League
A new-look Crook Mill House made a good start to the new season with an odd point home win over Crook Olde Horse Shoe. The home side had singles wins from Bob Spence, David Lacey, Jason Askew and James Mitchinson, whilst the Shoe replied with wins from Dave Leighton and Jimmy Luke, who later combined to take the doubles.
In the Second Division, Crook King's Head edged through to an odd point win in the decider at home to Stanley Earl Derby, who were also fielding a new-look side. The King's had singles wins from Lee Crosby, John Roberts and Paul Gallagher with Kevin Walton, Dave Wilson and Alan Robertson levelling. In the deciding doubles Andrew Fleming and John Roberts beat the visiting Alan Robertson and Ronnie Murray.
