Billingham swimmers reaped in the medals at the weekend competing at two competitions.
Nine competitors travelled south to compete in the British Triathlon Championships which took place at Wolverhampton. All competitors performed brilliantly against a top class field. The events consisted of varying swims and runs with all competitors having ten shots at the target. Medals awarded to the first six places.
In the Ladies Masters Shirley Fawkes came away with two medals, gold for best shoot and bronze overall, also competing in the ladies was Gillian Sheehan.
In the Mens Masters Guy Fawkes collected a trophy for fifth place, competing alongside him were Mark Wilson and Paul Trewin, together competing in the team event.
Also competing were Matthew Sheehan, Emma Wilson, Lisa Sheehan and Jessica Trewin. In the run and swim personal bests were achieved by all those competing and in the shoot by Lisa, Jessica, Shirley Guy and Paul.
Nearer to home ten youngsters competed at the third Middlesbrough Open gala competing against a top class field. The first six places all qualifying for a medal.
In the 10/11 age group Glen Martin picked up medals in all his swims. Three golds were achieved in the 200m free where he not only swam a personal best but broke a meet record, he swam a PB in the 100m back and his other gold being 100m free. His other swims were 4th in the 100m breast and 200m back both PB's and 6th in the 100m fly and 200m breast.
Three other 10/11 year olds were Gareth Allen with a PB in the 200m free, Stephanie Blakeburn in the 20m and 400m free both PB's and Harriet Goodman with a PB in the 200m free.
13 year old Christopher Wilkinson collected five medals and just missed out on his other swims. Out of eight swims seven personal bests were gained. Three bronze medals were won in the 100m and 200m fly and 400m free, two sixth places in the 100m and 200m free and just missing out in 7th place in the 200m I.M. Chris also swam the 100m breast and 200m back. Bradley Dixon also 13 with three PB's out of four swam 100m and 200m free, 100m fly and 100m back.
14 year old Joanne Longster swam two personal bests picking up a 4th place medal in the 200m back and 5th in the 400m free, her other swims being 100m free and back and 200m free.
16 year old Jane Usher collected a sixth place medal in the 200m free.
Two 12 year olds competing were Katherine Usher who swam the 100m breast with a PB and Anthony Brown with a PB in the 100m free and 200m back also swam 100m back and 200m free.
