A 15-YEAR-OLD boy who had drugs worth £10,000 in his bedroom was locked up yesterday.

A police sniffer dog found the heroin and cocaine under the floorboards.

The teenager was found on his bed with £320 cash when police raided his Stockton home.

Teesside Crown Court heard that four months earlier the boy had been caught rolling a cannabis joint in a Middlesbrough back alley with a girl, and that he had dumped a package with 18 wraps of crack cocaine and 24 wraps of heroin.

Shaun Dryden, prosecuting, said the boy had a previous conviction for heroin possession.

The youngster, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said he only used cannabis and was frightened into storing the Class A drugs by threats from his supplier.

He said he had saved the money that was found from pocket money and Christmas presents.

Stephen Constantine, for the teenager, said: "He is a small, 15-year-old, naive, some would say stupid boy who has landed himself in a lot of trouble."

Judge George Moorhouse told the boy: "One of the purposes of this court is to send messages out to people like you that if they dabble with drugs at any level they are in serious danger of losing their liberty."

He was sentenced to 12 months detention and training after he pleaded guilty to possession of heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply and possession of cannabis on October 30.

He also pleaded guilty to possession of heroin and cocaine with intent to supply on February 4.

The money was confiscated and the drugs were ordered to be destroyed.
