Pupils at Darlington's primary schools ensured a thrilling finish to their football season when they battled for honours in a league final competition.
Abbey Junior School won the boys league in the town, while the girls at Whinfield Junior School lifted the cup in the first female pupils' league.
The boys' league was restarted in 2000 after a 30-year gap, and spokesman Alison Raw said it was back with a vengeance.
She said she was particularly pleased because the girls' league was only launched last year.
The top finishers of the boys' four primary school leagues played each other, with the final match played on Wednesday at Longfield School to decide the overall winner.
Those taking part were Abbey Juniors, Harrowgate Hill Juniors, Rise Carr Primary and Mount Pleasant Primary.
The two top teams from each of the girls' leagues played each other, also culminating in a final on Wednesday. They were Mowden Juniors, Whinfield Juniors, Alderman Leach Primary and Abbey Juniors.
