TWO teenage pupils at a private school for girls have been disciplined after they posed for pictures dressed only in their underwear and a crossing warden's coat.

In an end-of-term prank, the 17-year-olds took the warden's coat and warning sign from a cupboard.

They went into toilets, stripped to their underwear and posed in the white jacket, each holding the sign.

Then they put the pictures on a website used by sixth form girls to boast about "conquests" with boys.

Classroom rivals got hold of the pictures and posted them to computers at Church High School, Jesmond, Newcastle.

A statement from the school said the incident had been investigated.

Headteacher Lesley Smith said: "Any reports of inappropriate behaviour by our girls are taken seriously, particularly as they are about to start their AS-level exams.

"We do expect the highest standards of discipline from the girls throughout the course of their time with us, and have procedures to deal effectively with issues that fail to maintain these standards.

"In this instance, disciplinary action has been taken."

The website involved has been closed.

It is not the first time Church High has hit the headlines for the wrong reasons.

Earlier this year, maths teacher Andrew Bolton, 35, won an employment tribunal against the school after he was dismissed for an affair with a sixth form student.

Mr Bolton and 19-year-old Shona Upton said their relationship only began once she had left the school.
