A SCHOOL is doing all it can to drum up support to buy new musical instruments.
West Redcar School has set its sights on raising £2,000 to buy a customised drum kit and microphones.
Fourteen-year-old pupils Jade Nichols and Samantha Eddon have formed a singing duo, Extreme, and are spearheading the fundraising drive, which has included a letter blitz targeting local businesses.
Home school liaison officer Chris McCormack is managing the duo. He said: "We do not have the equipment we need and any singing has to be done karaoke style, over the original song."
The school was recently awarded performing arts status and Mr McCormack said: "We really need to raise all the funds before we break up in July."
He hopes to record Extreme singing a song and to release the disc locally.
