A NORTH-EAST woman has been voted into office on one of the country's leading women's organisations.
Pauline Myers has become a member of the national executive committee for the Townswomen's Guilds.
A member of the Woodham Guild in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, Mrs Myers was appointed at the guild's central council meeting in Birmingham where 104 delegates from across the country cast their votes.
A former deputy headteacher, Mrs Myers joined the guild in a bid to find new interests outside her school life.
Within six months she was elected on to the federation committee of the Darlington and District guild and became secretary after a year.
She said: "I anticipate a challenge as a member of the national committee. I shall enjoy meeting many different people and hopefully rise to a whole series of diverse assignments."
